8 Tips to Manage Stress

Feeling stressed out lately? We all experience stress every now and again, however, if yours is too much to handle and not from a good exercise regime, dancing or having some type of enjoyable fun; it may be time to take a “time out” for yourself to take it easy and relax. I know it is easier said than done in today’s day and age of busy, busy, busy, but I am talking about your life here; so you may want to take heed to what is written here for stress is a serious thing that can cause an early death in you or a love one. Stress symptoms are sometimes rapid heart-beats, roller coaster energy, always angry or depressed, headaches, anxiety and the list goes on, but sometimes there is no symptoms. Stress is a killer, it is a silent killer of which sometimes the physical symptoms are not visible until it is too late. Stress has been known to take many years off one’s life and can have one look much older than they truly are. Consider embarking on 1 or all the tips listed below in assisting you with dealing with your life’s stressor's.

  1. Meditate/Pray

  2. You do not have to be highly religious to pray and meditate. You can take a moment and sit quietly where you are and do nothing but be with the moment. If you find that you fall asleep while doing this set a timer to do meditate or pray for 10 to 15 minutes a day and of course stop when you hear the buzzer. If you need more time and it is during the day just make sure to use a timer just in case, you drift off to sleep. Fight your battles on your knees it is a powerful thing. Cry out in prayer for it is a lovely and free thing to do.

  3. Exercise/Yoga/Pilates

  4. Take to the stairs, if you do not have time to exercise or participate in a class of your liking. Park your car further and walk, stand up and squat/lunge more throughout the day. Your body will thank you and your legs and butt will be a lot firmer. Try really hard to add daily exercise to your weekly routine at least 3 times a week for :30-45; more times a week if you are able too.

  5. Take up kick boxing, boxing, karate, yoga, Qi Gong, Ta-Chi, you get the jist

  6. Scream into a pillow, beat the pillow up if you have too, release the pain and stress in the moment. Holding stuff in is in no way beneficial to the body or situation.

  7. Talk About it

  8. Talk about your stresses with a Specialist, a Co-Worker, Friend and or Family member you trust that will not take the information you share with them to stress you out even further than you are. Releasing some of your concerns to someone who is taking the time to listen is a huge benefit to feeling some relief.

  9. Journal About it

  10. I can'r stress this one enough....Take out a book and make it your stress relief journal. Go to town, document in this book whatever it is that you want to release away from your life. If you would like to get creative with it; write a poem and go to a poetry event or festival and share your world with others who may be going through the same thing(s). There is nothing wrong with using your life story to help others and who knows who you can meet that can change your life in the process too. **If you don't want to write in a journal, you can always type in one over at Penzu

  11. Sleep On It

  12. Go to sleep. There is nothing like having a good night's sleep, which does wonders to de-stress the body. This is your bodies way of slowing down and unwinding so that you can wake up in the morning refreshed for a new day.   13. Spa Day/Weekend

  14. It is ideal that you take a spa day once a month, but if you are unable to do that, try to go to the spa during your lunch time or after a long arduous project is completed. Reward yourself for your hard work, your body will thank you for it later. *Remember you only live once, so you must try to enjoy your time while on earth; indulge on you a little.

  15. Breathe Deeply & Release

  16. Take some deep breathes throughout the day and exhale slowly. Doing this deep breathe exercise 3 to 5 times in one sitting, 4 times a day, slows down your heart rate which in turns slows down your blood pressure and helps the body feel more relaxed. It's very easy to do, give it a try.

  17. Music

  18. Break out some mellow music or something that you enjoy listening too that will not make you feel stressed out. If Rock music is your thing and you feel you need to scream loud and wild out to that so be it, just do it. What ever genre of music that helps you take the edge off without having the neighbors call the authorities on you, listen to it, dance to it, sing out loud to it. De-stress your body/spirit, you do not need to hold on to pent up anger, energy and stress any longer.
