Recycle, Upcycle For Our Planet!

Hello Everyone!
Hope you are having a wonderful September and getting ready for the entrance of Fall 2019. We apologize for missing our blog post last week, all is great, it has just been a super busy month and things will not be slowing down anytime soon for us which is a good thing. Over at EN&T, most of the team has been traveling up and down the east coast since the month has come in. We have been road warriors from VA to Upstate NY this month educating people on natural and eco-friendly/sustainable products to put on their skin, in their body and around or within their space; helping them to live more consciously. We are so excited to have witnessed how much more people in 2019 are becoming conscious and/or receptive of what is going on around them than in previous years.
One of the questions that came up often on this short journey, which is something that normally comes about in Green/Earth Months like April and May is upcycle vs. recycle and what it actually is and what’s the difference between them.
If you did not know, on March 1st, 2020, NY will be going sustainable green in regard to bags in the entire State. What this means, is plastic bags will no longer be allowed to be given out in stores. Our initiative at EN&T is to get people prepared before that time comes. We were surprised how well we were welcomed with opened arms and some serious enthusiasm; however, because we promote recycled and upcycled products some confusion came about on what the difference was.
Recycled
Recycled is when one breaks down and re-use goods or make them into some type of other finished goods.
Up-cycled
Up-cycled is when one takes finished goods or pieces from that finished good and make it into something else useful and productive for society.
The new earrings we sell are made from up-cycled bicycle tire tubes, while some of our bags and the utensils coverings are made of recycled plastic water bottles. Sustainability is huge for improving our environment, the planet and ourselves. Many sea creatures are ingesting plastic and if you eat them there is a good chance you are eating what they ate too. You are what you eat; so what are you eating? Becoming more conscious of what one puts in the landfills, the environment, the body and inside of the body is imperative. It is very important for everyone to be mindful of the impact that they have on keeping our world healthy and safe as much as possible and if each one of us are to do our part at the micro level; we will surely have an impact on the macro level over time.

Simply put, both recycling and up-cycling makes positive impacts on the environment, on our world. When we up-cycle, we remove items from the global garbage stream. Note that recycling requires energy or water to break down materials. Up-cycling only requires an imagination that is vivid and creative and a little elbow grease or you can just purchase what you need from people like us here at EN&T
For those who were not able to attend the Albany Vegfest, please feel free to use code “Alb Veg 2019” to get a percentage off your order until the end of September 2019. Try an eco-friendly supermarket bag, water bottle sling or the new unique up-cycle earrings which went over really, really well and has only been available this month. For those items not yet available (out of stock), you can add a note if you want to wait for them to become in stock before shipping, for we have to wait on the manufacturer to receive the item(s) of which they will be shipping out on Monday of next week to our warehouse You can also send us an email if you have any other questions. In the interim enjoy the last days of Summer 2019 while remembering to be conscious so that you can Reduce, Reuse, Recycle -- Up-cycle when and wherever possible!
