Apple Cinnamon Tea with Lemon

I hope you had time to try the Cinnamon Ginger tea with Lemon from last month. If not, what are you waiting for? It is so delicious, not to mention nutritious too.

To build on that recipe, I’ve decided to jazz that recipe up a bit, since it is National Apple Month and has been an apple picking fun month for us, which means we have tons of apples around, to do all kinds of things with in addition to our homemade apple pie(s) without any additives. Just because Halloween is upon us, does not mean we want any Frankenfoods & Drinks in our lives. No, we don’t. Not here. Not Ever!

Prep/Boil/Simmer Time: 20 Minutes

What you need for this recipe:

(5-6) Apples (freshly picked and organic preferred)

(8-10) Cups of water

(1-2) Organic lemons

(2) Sticks of Cinnamon

(1) Thumbnail piece of ginger (optional)

(1) Teaspoon of the sweetener of choice (optional)

Pour the water into a pot or use a tea kettle or whatever apparatus you have to boil water.

Cut the apples skin off and add the apple peels to the water. If you want, you can cut the apple up into cubes once you cut off the skin and add some water to it in an ice cube tray so that you can make this a cold drink for later. You will can use your apple cubes to brighten up the appearance and flavor of this autumn drink as you sip it chilled. For now, just add the cinnamon sticks to the pot/kettle about two minutes after the apples if you want a mild cinnamon flavor. If you want it a bit stronger in taste let it simmer in the pot after a 5-8-minute boil and leave in there until you are ready to pour it into your mug. I love ginger and turmeric because of the anti-inflammation properties so I add a pinch of ginger to my tea at the same time as the cinnamon and finish it off with a squeeze of lemon (1) Tablespoon. I use some of the lemon to garnish my guest and I mugs. You can use a sweetener if you like, but the apples peels and lemon make it sweet enough for me; you can drop in a cube or two of apples that are not frozen yet too. If you have the right lemons oh my how delightful and it does not hurt that this drink cleanses the liver and kidneys too…….oh yeah!
