Autumn is Here with Great Cheer!

Wow, we have just entered the 10th month (4th Quarter) of 2017, boy how time fly’s! We know you’ve have started to notice how 2017 is coming to an end faster than you wanted, but hey what can you do about it? Embrace it and welcome the days with an open mind for the inevitable changes that will come into your life. Did you know that October 1st is World Vegetarian Day? Yes, it is! This has lead us to cover a topic that will hopefully benefit you from the beginning of the month theme of Vegetarian Day. Consider going vegetarian or vegan for the month of October.
One of the things that we have noticed since Autumn has arrived is that many people with inflammation concerns or issues have had some major flairs ups. They have said they have become more frequent and many are left not knowing what to do other than to take a pill for some temporary relief and wonder how they will get through the season. We at Earthy Naturals and Thingz propose a diet alteration, starting in this beautiful 10th month. What better time than now, October, to take a look at your diet and use a month that does not host a lot of festivities to eat a clean plant based diet for 31 days that has the potential to reduce inflammation and improve your overall health. If you are not capable of lasting the entire month of October; at least try to consume a plant based diet for your bones and inflammation for at least 2 to 4 times a week for the entire month of October. It will not hurt, it will only help you on your journey.
There are three main macro-nutrients protein, carbohydrates and fats that is a must to have a healthy diet. For the Month of October we will focus on the macro-nutrient "Protein". The number one protein you need to invest in is Quinoa; the super-food. The word "quinoa" is pronounced "KEEN-wah." Quinoa is a power packed protein from the Swiss-chard family packed with all the essential amino acids you need. It is a plant based protein that you can have every day that is full of ample fiber so you do not ever have to worry about being clogged up. You can get an entire 4 lb. bag of this gluten free goodness from Costco for just under $15, which would last you for an entire month if not longer. If you decide to get super creative with this protein, which is also an essential amino acid, you can use it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and still have enough for one month; now if you must share with others then another bag will be in order for there is nothing like a good quinoa pancake, hamburger and mini sausage, that you would not believe you were capable of concocting, nor would others. To help you on this journey we did not want to leave you hanging, so we came up with a list of some plant based sources to help you obtain the nutrients you need for an entire month or for however long you desire to get you through this period of happy and healthy living.
If you feel you enjoy the meals you make during your plant based excursion, learn to incorporate a meatless day into your diet at least 1 day a week after October is over. This is so easy to do, for there is no better day to do this than Meatless Monday’s since it already exists and is branded online. All you must do is go on line and visit their site to get great ideas on how to move forward in your new chapter of eating right. Proactive, positive change starts with acting and moving yourself forward. It is October and you know what: YOU CAN DO IT! You owe it to you, to improve you!
