Spice Up Your September with Ginger!

September is that month that brings an end to Summer, but then enters in Fall ever so nicely we hardly notice the shift in seasons until we see the leaves change colors and eventually fall to the earth. This month we will keep it short and sweet by just noting the tidbits/themes of the month and covering one of our favorite go to spices for many things. “Ginger”!

In this transition from Summer to Fall this month we celebrate the following:

Labor Day (9.4.17)

Let's Celebrate, Celebration Time Come On!

National Acorn Squash Day (9.7.17) Yummy, yum, yum!

National Grandparents Day (9.10.17)

International Chocolate Day (9.13.17)

International Day of Peace (9.16.17)

National Pancake Day (9.26.17)

International Coffee Day (September 29th and/or October 1st…depending on who you ask)

8 Reasons to try Ginger.

Ginger is one of the most widely used and known compounds in the world. It is a universal superfood that contains gingerol which provides many medicinal properties. One thing to note about ginger is that you can consume it in various ways. You can cook with ginger, add it to your smoothies or juices and even apply it to your skin; for it penetrates through to help with healing (hence removing nasty bacteria). You do not have to worry about calories when consuming ginger because there is practically none, it will actually help you shed a few inches; especially when you add it to lemon water or some hot water with lemon.

We usually recommend ginger to all who can tolerate it, but below you will find our top 8 reasons we love advocating for ginger:

  1. It is an antioxidant that helps reduce and even eliminate inflammation in the body

  2. It helps eliminate nausea for all types of conditions; especially morning sickness

  3. It helps to fight off bad bacteria in your gut, making it easier to digest certain foods

  4. It helps to lower your blood pressure with continuous use.

  5. It may lower your blood sugar levels

  6. It may help to reduce your LDL (bad cholesterol) numbers

  7. It can help alleviate some of those cramps during that time of the month for the ladies and calm you men down when a little stressed.

  8. It can help you lose weight as an added part of your everyday regime, not to mention it will spice up any meal and tea. We just made a lemon ginger green juicy juice for our meal of the day. If you do not have a juicer, you can make a smoothie instead and if you want a cool refreshing drink boil some ginger in water and let it chill in the freezer for an hour or fridge for two or three hours add some fresh squeeze lemons to it and bam you just cooled the body down as well as some inflammation too.
