Today, July 8th, is National Blueberry Day, which takes place within National Blueberry Month, and if you enjoy making muffins, July 11th is National Blueberry Muffin Day. Wow, that is a whole lot of blueberry going on this July, Yeah!

Fun Fact:

In July 2003, the USDA proclaimed July as National Blueberry Month. The Secretary of Agriculture issued a formal proclamation, citing the healthfulness, popularity, and importance of the blueberry. Leading one to believe that blueberries are one of the best fruits on the planet.


July is the perfect month of the year to go on a blueberry binge and not regret it; after all, they are full of antioxidants. Head down to your local market and pick up a pound or two and get creative with what you make from smoothies, cereal, yogurt, to pancakes, or even a cake or pie. One can pop blueberries, in their mouth, and eat as is. It is not a complicated treat. Blueberries give the body the ability to release dopamine, an energizing, stimulation neurotransmitter. Hence, they make one feel good by simple intake. One can also use blueberries to manufacturer some great products like lip balm, shampoo, and conditioner; be resourceful; the list of things one can develop is endless. Blueberries are so nutritious and packed with antioxidants that help build a healthy body and produce quick hair and nail growth. Do not take my word, just by some, and give it a conscious try yourself. Document what you see for noticeable results should arise within two weeks to a month.


Blueberries are a fruit that everyone is lucky enough to obtain all year long. The price does fluctuate in winter months, however, now is the perfect time to get them at the best quality and at a low price. April through October are the ideal months, but July is indeed the best time because blueberries promotions are endless due to the proclamation and they are plentiful. Purchase them now and freeze them for later or purchase frozen and defrost to eat or put in dishes now; blueberries are quite versatile hence the perfect year-round superfood.

Simple Blueberry Smoothie:

Serving (2 to 3)

(2) Cups of Almond Milk (unsweetened)

(1.5) Cups of Blueberries

(2) Bananas

Blend all ingredients together and serve. That's Simple!

*Substitute almond for rice or coconut milk

*Use frozen blueberries and/or add about 4 to 6 ice cubes
